Exercising daily releases endorphins which lowers your stress levels. Besides that you will also burn those extra pounds. Walking for 20-30 minutes everyday is more than enough and it also strengthens your muscles.

The second thing you should focus on is getting enough sleep. Give your body the sleep it requires and your stress will surely come calm down. Sleeping recuperates and restores the energy of your body and hence if you don’t get the complete share of sleep your body needs to use stress to keep you on your feet active. Adults need to sleep at least 8 hours per night and young ones need at least 9-10 hours of sleep. So try regulating your sleep habits and go to bed early.

Your body needs to gain energy and hence for tackling stress, your eating habits should also be healthy so that it can properly fuel you up. Drink plenty of water because a dehydrated body creates cortisol which is a stress hormone. You should also reduce your caffeine and alcohol intake as much as you can.

Drink a glass of juice instead of having a full mug of coffee in the morning. Caffine is also responsible for raising the stress levels, especially at workplace so try having a glass of water or juice instead. Never skip breakfast as it is the first meal of the day. It gives the proper start for your body to last through the day and hence breakfast should never be skipped.

Start developing a sense of humour because one of the barriers to stress reduction is taking things too seriously. It’s true that you have to be serious at workplace or at college however it’s okay to back off a little for the time being and see the humour in the various situations in life. If you can’t find anything to laugh at, laugh at yourself and try to be playful every now and then. Laugh a lot!!

Try to share the root cause of the problem for your stress with your loved ones. This is one of the most important things as keeping your emotions bottled up within you will only lead to more stress. Your friends will understand what your going through and will help you in all the way they can if both of you share a close relationship. Maintain a journal or a diary to write down your thoughts and express yourself, it will surely calm you down.
