How to Heal the Pain of the Past

We have all had our hearts broken at some point in life.

It can be through a romantic relationship, loss of a job, business failure, family wrangles or lots of other things.

Many people often wonder how to heal the pain of the past since it is a hard experience that can leave you traumatized for many years.

People talk about moving on like it is really simple but the truth is it takes a lot of effort to break away from baggage you have had in you for a long while.

Some things you can’t just wish away.

Here is what I have taught myself and has helped me this far:

Build up your attitude. The pain you have been through either physically, mentally or emotionally detests positivity. Surround yourself with good energy. Try and put behind what was bugging you in the first place. Totally give it a back seat and instead focus on what good might have come out of the situation. Many at times the key to winning painful battles lies only in your spirit.

  • Avoid any activity that might remind you of your experiences. This helps your mind to forget and it gives time the chance to heal since it is indeed the best healer. Reaffirm yourself everyday and let your mind know that there are better days ahead.
  • Keep yourself occupied with something you love doing. Do that what you enjoy whether it is a job or hobby do it to perfection and motivate yourself to always do better at it. An idle mind will always try to remember but a busy one will soon be able to let go.
  • Look good and you will in turn feel good about yourself. Smile often and pamper your body. Exercise is a good way to get ones endorphins high and this in turn makes one feel better and confident both emotionally and physically.

Only you can free yourself from the past. Accept things as they are and if you had wronged someone learn to forgive yourself and change your ways.

Forgive those who wronged you and it will bring you the peace of mind you need.

Remember time is the best healer so give yourself plenty of it and you will surely see some progress.
