Helpful Personal Development Goals for Sales Reps

appointments

Anyone who has worked in sales will tell you that it’s not a walk in the park.

More often than not, you’re met with criticism even before you present your products or services to potential customers.

Now, not all salespeople are out to rip off people but this is just one of the stereotypes that come with the title.

So what happens when you have an amazing product, one that you would honestly buy for yourself, but can’t seem to get past the stereotypes and judgment from people?

appointmentsYou want to offer potential customers a great deal but can’t seem to get past these preconceived notions?

Here are some helpful personal development goals for sales reps that will help get you past the stereotype and into the mind of your customer;

Market Yourself First

If you want people to be into what you present to them, you have to first be the kind of person they want to listen to.

Customers are less likely to scrutinize or label you if there is something about you that appeals to them.

  • It’s about more than just what you are wearing and how your hair looks. It’s about how you speak.
  • Are you able to match each personality with a counter personality?
  • Appeal to the customer’s interests first
  • Be friendly, someone worth listening to

Know Your Product

You don’t have to necessarily like the product you’re selling, but what it is all about should be at your fingertips. Be ready for any and all questions;

  • Give out interesting facts about your product or service.
  • Be ready for critics. Although most of their comments may be negative, they may actually help you get better at what you are doing.
  • Don’t just talk about your service or product’s good points. Speak about problem areas and solutions for each and every one of them. This gives potential clients little reason to reject your product or service – and they’ll be thinking about these points even if they don’t vocalize that
  • Most importantly, treat each sale as an opportunity to learn.
