How to Curb Your Smartphone Addiction

smartphone

With the advent of smartphones and connecting to various social networks, we want to keep up to date and keep in touch with friends. This has made the situation even worse and often people panic if they lose their phone or forget it at home.

Do you suffer from nomophobia? Follow these signs:

  • You can never turn off your phone.
  • You obsessively check messages, missed calls and emails.
  • Continually charge the battery to prevent it from betraying you.
  • You never go to the toilet without a cell phone.

smartphoneIf a cell phone controls your life and interferes too much with your daily activities, business or connection, it’s time to react.

Start small steps and take on the bigger and bigger process of treating your addiction.

The first 30 minutes of the day makes you

You notice that the first thing you do when you open your eyes is to race to the phone. You should devote the first 30 minutes of the day to yourself so that your day is best. This means getting out of bed, washing, five-minute meditation or stretching, and preparing a healthy breakfast.

Start your day focused on yourself and your well-being instead of neglecting the needs and watching what’s new on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, whether you have a Google Alert, what Mourinho said, what Putin said, what’s new in the world and how did any star take photos…

Set aside time without your phone

Sometimes phone attachment is not our decision, but a must. However, think carefully if this is also your case. Still, there are few jobs that require employees to be connected to the telephone constantly.

If you are not one, specify a period of time during which your phone will be switched off. Start with half an hour and gradually extend this period to three hours. This is how you will be focused on the business.

Turn off your phone when you get in the car

This should be rule number one. No one can be thinking of two different places. Driving a car is one of those things that requires the highest concentration possible because you are literally holding both your life and the lives of dozens, maybe hundreds, of people in your hands. Complete all obligations before entering the car and reach out to your little electronic friend only when you get out of the car.

Be real

You sit in a cafe or restaurant and while your interlocutor is talking, you look at your phone screen and shake your head, repeating, “Aha … aha … mhm … ma, yes …”

In doing so, you send out several signals: you are disinterested, non-cultural, you do not respect the interlocutor… In addition, your real-life suffers from the virtual. And who else wants it.

So when in social situations, the phone stays in your pocket. And the period.

Don’t let your dreams suffer

If you notice that you are staying awake with your phone longer, whether it is because of video games, Facebook or SMS messages, you are dependent on your mobile phone and there is no talking. The moment you direct all your energy to the essentials of your life on the phone, you have allowed the appliance to control your life.

After you go to bed, be sure to turn off your phone or put it away from you as this will only ensure a peaceful and quality sleep – a prerequisite for health.
