How to Improve Your Mood in 5 Minutes Flat!

Most of us live in very stressful environments making it quite difficult to relax.

The reality however is that you don’t have to go to a great deal of trouble to calm your nerves. Here are several things you can do to improve your mood in 5 minutes or less:

Stretching

It may sound basic but stretching is one of the easiest and most effective ways of relieving tension in your body. The best thing about stretching is that you can do it just about anywhere. Here’s an easy guide you can use to ensure you get a full stretch:

  • Stand up
  • Lift both arms above your head and stretch them for about 5 seconds
  • Drop your arms, relax your shoulders and lift them several times making sure they touch your ears each time
  • Bend over and touch your toes, hold that position; do a few more repetitions
  • Tilt your neck back and forth
  • Put your hands akimbo, and then bend back and forth several times

Breathing

Lack of sufficient oxygen in the body causes headaches, dizziness, nausea, lethargy and all manner of unpleasant symptoms. Because most of us spend the whole day seated, it becomes difficult to breathe correctly. So every now and then while in the office, stop what you are doing and take at least 10 deep breathes making sure you exhale fully each time. You will be surprised at how much better you will feel.

Help someone

If you are walking down the street and you see a homeless man playing a musical instrument give him a dollar or two. If you see an old lady trying to cross the street, help them out. When the person you’ve helped shows their gratitude, it will make you feel really good about yourself.

Hug someone!

When feeling down, few things feel as good as a hug. It really doesn’t matter who you hug as long he or she is willing. You can even hug your dog if nobody else is around.

Hypnotise yourself

Hypnosis is a great way to improve your mood.

You can download a hypnosis track and start listening to it almost immediately. Listen to it as often as you like to improve your mood at a whim.
