Ever wonder why some people binge watch motivational videos on YouTube, follow millionaire success pages on Twitter and Instagram? Simple. It’s is all an attempt to remotely connect with real people and gain positive insight from their experiences.
In addition to social media, there are so many ways to get information on how to make immediate tweaks on certain areas of your life i.e. you can keep a journal, read a specific book, watch a documentary, however, physical hands-on experience through coaching is always the best road to travel.
On a larger scale, there are so many companies and agencies that specialize in one on one coaching with the main goal of helping people improve the overall quality of their lives.
Unfortunately, with the daily overload of ads, infomercials and YouTube videos there’s so much content out there claiming to have ALL the solutions — everything from A-Z.
(We’ve all seen those weight loss programs or body improvement regimes claiming to have helped a previously overweight client lose 50+ pounds in 30 days)
The fact is just as there is a demand for teachers, lawyers and nurses there is certainly a demand for life coaches. Anyone can write, sell or advertise whatever they please on the internet, whether or not they have the right information about said product or service.
So the question becomes a matter of trust. How exactly does one find a credible life coach? One that not only has a good track record, charges reasonable and affordable rates, but is also tailored to your various hyper-specific emotional and mental needs as well.
A coaching plan must be harmonious to your body and mind. Everyone want a full proof step by step guide on how to have a better body, earn more income or just be a generally happy family person overnight but it just doesn’t work that way.
Everything requires time and patience, and there is no such thing as a perfect teacher either.Even a trained coach can have flaws and a few personality defects here and there.
Don’t opt for the most convenient coach based on price, availability or temperance. When choosing a life coach my advice would be to start with values.
Values are everything. While you don’t necessarily have to agree with everything regarding your teachers way of life, you must remember that you still have to pass the exam.
It is nevertheless of upmost importance that your mentor shares the same core values and beliefs as you do.
On the flip side, some people don’t like the idea of having a life coach because they deem it trivial and unnecessary to have someone tell them how to live their lives on any level. A life coach can shave months even years of your learning curve imagine those countless hours you spent trying to learn something by yourself — can you imagine if you had hired a teacher? You could have learned said topic in half the time and also felt the confidence of being taught by someone who is a master.
Truly no man is an island and you can’t expect to learn everything yourself and honestly with all the resources at your disposal, you don’t have to.
And if you’d like to become a life coach yourself, check out this excellent (very affordable) life coach training complete with certification.
