Personal change can mean lots of things to lots of people.
You’ll probably know what it could mean to you but I find that the best way to help myself with personal change is to have something to aim for. Some people call that a goal, other people might call it a target.
The actual name you call it doesn’t matter too much.
What does matter is that actually go ahead with the change and your target is what helps you to do this.
It gives you something to aim for.
There are lots of different methods you can use to help you with personal change but, to my mind, hypnosis is one of the easiest.
Nowadays, you don’t even need to go to a hypnotist. All you need to do is instantly get a download like this one, transfer it to your MP3 player, put on your headphones and relax for half an hour or so.
How To Start Your Personal Change Mission
To change anything, you need to know where you’re going.
I find the easiest way to do this is to make a list.
It’s a bit like having a to-do list for things you need to do at work. Except this one is about what you need to change yourself.
You can do this on a piece of paper or on a word processor. So long as your handwriting is reasonable and readable, I find that a sheet of paper is actually because you can draw a line down the middle and put things that you want to improve down one side and things you’d like to get rid of on the other side.
It doesn’t matter though – you can also do this on a word processor.
So don’t procrastinate on your method, just do it!
Then do a brain dump.
What does that mean?
It means simply that you write or type without editing anything. Ideally for 10 to 15 minutes.
Why not edit it?
Because that use a completely different part of your brain.
A brain dump uses your creative brain – that’s where all the good ideas for personal change will come bubbling out.
Later, once your brain has stopped buzzing, you can come back and edit it.
What you’ll find is that when you do this, you’ll actually have lots of ideas spring out at you and you’re path to personal change will be a lot, lot, clearer.

How Attitude Affects Personal Change
You know some people always seem to have their own personal thundercloud following them around? The kind of people that you’d prefer to avoid in real life?
Well, the same goes for anyone.
Which means that your attitude will actually affect your personal change.
Think about it…
If you smile at people you meet, say little things like “please” and “thank you”, that affects the reaction you get.
Only the other day, a passer-by in the street said how happy I looked and how just seeing me smiling had improved her day. This was a complete stranger – I’d never met her before in my life. But it lifted her day and it also gave a boost to my day.
Just by smiling!
Think how much you could change just by doing that – it will likely lift your mood like it did mine. It will change your day’s experience for the better.
All just by smiling.
Then when you implement more things to change your life for the better, they’ll actually compound on each other. There will be a cumulative effect and the sum of the change will be bigger than the sum of the parts.
It sounds weird but do yourself a favour and try it for yourself for the next 30 days.
Why 30 days?
Because that’s how long it takes to make a habit.
Remind yourself first thing in the morning that you need to do at least one thing today to help change yourself for the better.
At the end of each day, jot down in a journal at least one of the things that you’ve done to help bring about personal change in your life. You’ll probably find that there are lots more things you’ve than just one lone item. And they’ll all be helping you.
Then tomorrow morning, remind yourself again. And jot it down in your journal last thing at night. And so on.
