Sigmund Freud famously made us all aware that there is more to our minds than just the thoughts and memories we usually have.
I’m talking of course about your subconscious mind.
We know now that our subconscious minds have a huge effect on how we act and what we think about or don’t think about.
Over the years many people have tried to tap into this mysterious part of us, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes for bad.
One of the most famous (or perhaps infamous) methods is subliminal messaging.
Most people think of images flashing on a screen too fast for us to see but affecting us all the same.
Though this method of advertising has been banned almost everywhere, it doesn’t mean we can’t use the techniques on ourselves to help us get the most out of life.
Here are a few suggestions on how to use subliminal messages on yourself:
- Have a look at your life and decide what aspects you would like to change
- Make up a list of key words and phrases that will encourage these changes
- Phrase your suggestions as messages directly to yourself
- Keep away from negative language and words. Rather than a phrase like “You will stop being lazy”, take a more positive “You want to work harder and get more done”
There are lots of different ways that you can deliver these messages to your subconscious mind.
One common method is that you should deliver your suggestions while you are asleep or near to it.
This is when your subconscious is closest to the surface.
Try out some of these methods, and go with what suits you best:
- An audio recording scheduled to play when you sleep
- Write them down where you will see them as you wake up
- Wake up at 3am and read your suggestions a few times, then go back to sleep
