Using Meditation for Personal Development

Meditation is often used alongside other personal development methods. Mainly because it’s a great fit!

Meditating on a regular basis is a simple yet effective way to relax, unwind and generally get your body to a higher state. You’ll likely find that as well as being less stressed and more relaxed after you’ve had a meditation session, you’ll also experience greater clarity of thought.

Which is a nice combination of things to have!

There are lots of different meditation methods you can use to achieve this.

Guided meditations such as this one are a great place to start. The voice on the audios is relaxing (you’ll here Matt’s voice when you open the link) and you’re talked through the process of relaxing and meditating with very little effort on your part.

You can also get guided meditations on Amazon for a handful of cents per track. Which is a great way to experiment and find out which ones work best for you. Especially when you add in the reviews on Amazon which help weed out the less effective meditations.

A more traditional form of meditation is the one that you’ve probably seen in the movies. Sitting in the “lotus” (cross legged) position and focusing your attention on an object such as a speck on the wall or ceiling or the flickering of a candle flame.

This method takes more practice so whether it’s best for you will depend on your temperament – you’ll probably instinctively know the answer to this!

But if you’re able to devote the time to it, it’s definitely worth investigating – there are plenty of videos on sites like YouTube that will help you with it.

Another method that is gaining popularity is something called binaural beats meditation.

This is where a geeky programmer has teamed up with a serious meditator and created a method to recreate the brainwave patterns experienced in deep meditation.

It sounds complicated and the science behind it is. But the real world practicality is that it’s really simple to use. You just listen to the pre-programmed track that the geeky programmer has worked out for you.

Early attempts at this took forever – almost as long as becoming a fully fledged Zen monk and definitely in the category of years with the commitment of at least an hour a day listening to the tracks.

More recent binaural beats meditations took the length of time involved down to something more manageable but still required an hour a day to listen to them. Which isn’t something many people can find the time for on a regular basis.

In the last handful of years, the programmers have been hard at work and have come up with binaural beats meditation tracks that only need 30 minutes a day. Which is much more manageable.

The best one on the market is this one. The full program takes just 6 months and works spectacularly well. They’re so confident, you can even download a demo track for free.
