The reason I ask what your mindset is like is because it’s probably the most important part of your personal growth.
If your mind is working against you, you’ll have a much harder job of achieving whatever it is you’re seeking.
Whereas if your mind is “on board” with your thoughts then things get an order of magnitude easier.
Which all sounds great in theory. But what can you do to put that into practice? After all, those negative and awkward thoughts can creep in at the most unwanted moments.
Being positive and thinking positive thoughts is the usual self help answer to sorting out your mindset.
The trick to actually achieving this is to work at it on a regular basis.
Start by consciously “thinking positive” on a regular basis.
In other words, deliberately think a positive thought. Pick a subject – it doesn’t much matter which one – and think of something nice about it!
It could be as simple as being happy that you’re alive and breathing. Or it could be the friends you have. Or the view you’re enjoying. Or absolutely anything else you care to think about.
Doing this on a regular basis – maybe once an hour but definitely at least quite a few times a day – will shift your outlook.
Sure, there’ll be times when self doubt rears its ugly head. That’s normal.
But the more often you can think a positive thought – no matter how tiny – the more the shift will take place.
And that shift will begin to show up in other areas of your life as well. You’ll maybe smile more often. Or notice things you hadn’t noticed before. Some of them small, some of them less small. But all helping to shift the way your mind thinks.
Do this on a regular basis for the next few weeks and – ideally – keep a journal of some sort to notice all the good things that have happened to you each day.
Again, taking the time out to do that helps bring on the synchronicity of life.
The other simple thing you can add in to your routine is getting into the habit of saying “thank you” for anything that happens to you. Say it out loud if someone serves you or gives you something. Say it in your head if that’s more appropriate (when a nice email arrives, for instance).
